tested the trial version of ONIS for compatibility and the system worked fine, I was able to transmit images from my PACS workstation to another location. I then purchased the Ultimate package and currently I am unable to transmit the images. I followed the same process without success. All servers are running, IP, port and AE titles are accurate. I tested my system by sending to a test DICOM site and was successfully able to transmit the images. My PACS is indicating that there is no DICOM server (or the DICOM server is not operational) on the computer in which ONIS is installed. How can I test my ONIS system DICOM server is able to communicate with other DICOM transmitters? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I will assume that your are trying to send an image from your PACS to ONIS.

The first thing you have to do is to make sure that the dicom server of ONIS is running. To make sure of that, restart ONIS and then open the preference panel. Go the the server page and select the DICOM Server tabulation. Make sure that the current status is "Running". If it is running, note the port number and make sure that you used this port number for your PACS.

The next step is to try sending one image and monitor if an error occurred. For that, open the preference panel of ONIS, select the Administration page and select the "Logs" tabulation. Check on the "Live" box. Anything happening on the server will be log in the window below. Go to your PACS and try to send an image. Right after that, go back to ONIS and check the log. There can be two scenario from here:

1/ nothing was logged (no additional line at all in the log)
You have to make sure that the IP and port number you used to register ONIS as a client of your PACS are correct. If they are, then you need to make sure that your PACS computer can access to the ONIS computer (try a ping). If everything is fine, then the problem should be the firewall of the computer ONIS was installed to. Try again to send the image with the firewall off.

2/ some new events were logged
An error describing the problem should be logged. If you can't understand it, please send it to us and we will explain it to you and advise you what you should do next.

I hope this will help.

Kind regards,

madric
